Today Oliver was microchipped. Oh, the trauma!
I knew he'd piss himself if we put him in his carrying case, so I asked Dave to carry him. We put a plastic bag on Dave's lap for protection, which served its purpose before we'd even left the subdivision. After we stopped to clean off the bag (Dave wiping it in a snow bank, me holding the wet, writhing cat over my gearshift), it became an oversized diaper.
The vet was really nice and the chip was implanted without incident, although we did have to hide in a corner because we couldn't bear to watch. After rabies paperwork, international export forms, the health certificate and tranquilizer pills for the flight, we were finally on our way. On the way out Oliver took the opportunity to hiss at a couple of kittens from his plastic straight jacket . And he didn't even piss on the way home.
