The Paris Beach

Every summer, Paris turns a strip along the Seine into a beach for a month. Dave and I walked down yesterday to check it out.

It's weird seeing people sunbathe right in the center of Paris. Especially when the water is so....unswimmable. The grassy banks had been covered with sand and people were stretched out on beach chairs while children dug holes and made castles. There were fresh water showers and mist sprays that people were cooling off in between bouts of tanning. Not nearly as refreshing as a dip in the ocean, I imagine, but better than nothing.

For every person stretched out on the sand, there were at least ten walking along the river, gaping at the half naked people. Either in envy or wonderment if these people really believed they were at a beach.
