Rugby World Cup

The Rugby World Cup is in France this year, and kicked off on Friday night. Dave and I watched the opening ceremony, which David called "insulting" but I insisted on watching with the hopes that it would suddenly improve. It didn't.

It occured to me too late to take a photo for the blog. The scene was of absurdly dressed dancing men, tumbling and prancing around the field. David said it was like a bad version of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. The cheorography was just painful to watch.

Anyway, after that the real fun started, and team France played Argentina. David explained to me what he had learned at work about rugby, although neither of us still knows what a "scrum" is for.

In the end, Argentina won, and I felt the collective groan of the city around us.

Yesterday England beat the US, and today there are countless articles on the web about how poorly England played and how disappointed they were with their performance. Pfff.
