David and I are cleaning up the apartment, getting ready for Adam and Abby's visit, and I'm in the kitchen with the Tour de France on tv. At 3:00 precisely I started flipping through the channels, looking for the Wimbledon final: Federer vs. Roddick. And I found it.
On pay television.
Already hot and irritated, I start swearing out loud at the television. From the bathroom, David says in a sarcastic, not-surprised tone: "Of course it's not on regular television. It's not the French Open. There isn't a Frenchman in the final. Why would they show it? Sports aren't important to the French. The French are important to the French."
In my opinion, the final of any major sporting event should be available to the viewing public for free. Isn't that some sort of sporting socialism? Quel injustice!
