Vivent les Vacances!

After a long and desperate August, David and I are finally on our way to our summer holidays this Saturday. Due to technical disadvantages (David won't let me have an iPhone and I refuse to carry my work laptop on vacation), we won't be updating the blog with our adventures until the end of the trip. And even then it might take some time, as I'm scheduled to travel to northern England the week after we get back.

Yes, I'm the numbskull who scheduled her own business trip for the week after holidays, as if killing my vacation buzz with the stress of driving a right hand drive vehicle was something I couldn't wait to do.

Anyway, that's sure to be a fun blog post later on.

For now, here's a preview of our trip, in case you were interested:

We'll take the uber-speedy TGV from Paris to Montpelier (A), in the center of southern France. We'll pick up a rental car and drive straight to Sete (B) a small peninsula in the Mediterranean, and spend two days there.

Then two nights in Saint-Chamas (C), visiting the coast and the city of Marseilles, followed by two nights in Mousiers-Sainte-Marie (D) to see the les gorges du Verdon, or the "French Grand Canyon".

Next, another two nights in Cagnes sur Mer (E), between Nice and Cannes on the coast, before a long haul through the Alps up to the infamous Lake Como (F) in northern Italy. We'll spend three nights in a hotel on the lake before driving down to Milan to drop off the car, spend one night, and board a train bound for Paris.

We're coming back a few days shy of two weeks in order to drive up to Lille in northern France for my colleague's wedding. We debated missing the wedding in favor for another few days in Italy, but it's such an honor to be invited to a wedding, and we're both so fond of Pierre and Samantha; how could we not go?

We have a couple of pretty exciting weeks ahead of us, and I hope to return with some good stories. So au revoir, but à bientôt. See you soon.
