For our last night in China, we went out with a French colleague who has lived in Shanghai for four years. He took us to a quiet, secluded alley with cute shops and trendy restaurants. We broke our "Chinese food every night" streak when Julien very politely insisted that after four years, he was tired of Chinese. So we had Thai. Still very delicious.
After dinner and a little shopping we went to a bar, where we learned how to play a Chinese drinking game and danced like fools - the only Westerners in the whole bar. Markus was a big hit with the Chinese girls. I left the boys to their fans and left early to get back to the hotel and pack.
An American, a German, and Frenchman walk into a Chinese bar.... I'm too old for these punchlines.
