Once again, I've fallen behind, and I'm sorry for that. To catch you up a little bit on what we've been doing, here are my excuses for not writing:
1. Spring is here. Let's see...would I rather sit on the sunny balcony with a book, or sit in front of the computer (which - let me remind you - I do 8-10 hours a day at work) for the evening? Hmm....
2. I've been sick. I'll not bore you with details, but let's just say that my new French health care card arrived just in time. Somehow (it's a true mystery) I picked up a kidney infection last month, which brought along a 4-week long cough and lightning-strike back pains. I met a nice French doctor who prescribed me a whole bag of medicine (including precious antibiotics) for a mere 6.30 euros. Now I'm 95% fixed, but behind on everything I've missed in the past month.
3. We finally caved into the television phenomenon that is Lost. I blame (I really mean "thank") Vincent Louchet, who lent us his DVD copy of Season 1 and promised we wouldn't be disappointed. Hence, nearly every evening when we have an hour of spare time, we're firing up an episode for a healthy dose of American television.
4. We joined a gym. Sometime in January we finally decided to kick our winter funk and get some physical activity. We found a small gym in town that is open late (very very important) and - at certain times - not very crowded. In fact, a few times I've had the whole place to myself. It's a pretty weak gym - just a bunch of machines, really - but enough to get me some cardio and David some strengthening. It's difficult to find time during the week, but the boost to my mood since we've been going semi-regularly has been huge.
Anyway, excuses aside, I have stories to tell and a renewed ambition to get back to the blog. I hope you haven't forgotten about us here, although I wouldn't blame you if you had. Come back soon - I promise farm animals, human towers, tapas, and a video of the cat eating plastic.
No joke.
